Loretta J.'s Story
I come from humble beginnings, both my paternal and maternal grandparents immigrated from Mexico for a better life.
My maternal grandparents are: Pedro Olvera Garcia from Ramos Arispe, Mx and Loreta Marin Gonzales from Monterrey, N.L. Mx. They had a store on Guadalupe Street and a cantina, which still stands on the property.
My paternal grandparents are Miguel Salas Jauregui--(accent on the a) from Tula, Tamulipas, Mx and Clemencia Suarez Moncada from Saltillo, Mexico.
Both my parents were born in San Antonio, Texas, Natividad Moncada Jauregui and Esperanza G. Garcia. They married in Hartford,
I was their first born, named after both grandmothers. The story goes that my parents had agreed that I would be named after my grandmothers if I was a girl. They had not discussed as to which name would be first as they both wanted their mom's name first. So they threw a bolado, (toss) and my mother wanted tails, so she won, thus my name Loreta Clemencia Jauregui. I always thought my name was spelled Loretta, only to find out that it was anglozied by my teachers in school.

ble. My daddy always provided for us and would always buy me what I wanted. Then again I was not a spoiled brat, (maybe a little bit--lol)
I attended H. K. Williams Elementary School on Rivas street, then went on to Truman Jr. High, Edgewood High School for two years and transferred to Memorial High where I graduated in 1969. I attended San Antonio Business College right after high school.
I married Vincent M. Tovar on March 20, 1971, had our first child, a son Vincent J. Tovar, Jr. on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1971. Our second child, Roberta was born to us on August 30, third child, another daughter, Carla on November 1 & then our son Ricardo on June 22.
Fast forward, now we have seven grandchildren, Destiny, Victoria, Vincent, Jadelyn, Gabriel, Ali & Angelina. They are my joy and a reason to keep on living. Things in my life have not been easy but God did not promise me a rose garden. I hate arguing so many times I just keep things inside me. I love life, love to travel, hoping that one of these days I get to go to Las Vegas. A close friend and I hoped to make it there someday, but it never happened. Sometimes things do not happen the way we want it to. Perhaps it is destiny, not meant to be.
